TITANS QUALIFY TWO RELAYS

THE BOYS SEASON GOT OFF TO A GREAT START TO MATCH THE LADIES SUCCESS.  THE BOYS QUALIFIED TWO OF THE THREE RELAYS FOR THIS YEAR’S STATE MEET.  THE 4 X 100 M. RELAY TEAM OF TREVOR BURRELL, COLE THOMPSON, TY BURKE, AND NATHAN KAUFUSI RAN A SOLID TIME (43.56) EN ROUTE TO A SECOND PLACE FINISH.  THE 4 X 400 M. RELAY TEAM OF BURRELL, SCOTT DAVIES, BURKE, AND KAUFUSI ALSO QUALIFIED WITH A MEET WINNING EFFORT (3:24.26).

THE MEDLEY RELAY TEAM OF DALLAN PEHRSON, ALEX WHEELER, MCKAY GARRETT, AND DREW HOGAN RAN A GREAT RACE AND FINISHED SECOND IN THE MEET THAT FEATURED 18 SCHOOLS.

NATHAN KAUFUSI WOULD RUN GREAT TIMES, BOTH QUALIFYING, IN THE 100 AND 200 METERS.  NATHAN WOULD FINISH SECOND IN BOTH EVENTS TO THE CURRENT STATE LEADER IN THOSE EVENTS.

OTHER TITANS WHO EXCELLED:  JUNIOR THROWER SAM HANSEN HAD A GREAT PERFORMANCE IN THE JAVELIN.  HIS THROW OF 154’07” EARNED A THRID PLACE FINISH.  SENIOR HURDLER SCOTT DAVIES BATTLED A TOUGH FIELD TO A SECOND PLACE FINISH IN THE 300 HURDLES.

JUNIOR JUMPER ED BURTON QUALIFIED FOR STATE IN THE HIGH JUMP AND SCORED POINTS IN THE LONG JUMP.  BOTH OF ED’S MARKS PLACED HIM IN THE TOP TEN IN SCHOOL HISTORY.  SOPHOMORE DISTANCE RUNNER DREW HOGAN HAD AN OUTSTANDING RACE IN THE 1600 METERS RUNNING 4:34.40 (#9 ALL-TIME).  WHAT A START TO HIS OUTDOOR CAREER!

THE TITANS WILL BE IN ACTION AGAIN NEXT WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY AS THEY HOST THE 2018 DAVIS SCHOOL DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIPS.  THAT MEET WILL FEATURE ATHLETES FROM EACH OF THE DISTRICT’S HIGH SCHOOLS.  IT SHOULD BE A VERY COMPETITIVE MEET WITH TALENT IN EVERY EVENT!  THE MEET WILL BEGIN AT 3:00 ON BOTH DAYS.
