TITANS 3RD AT STATE

THE 2018 TITANS TRACK SEASON ENDED IN SUCCESS AS BOTH THE GIRLS AND BOYS TEAM FINISHED THIRD AT THE STATE TRACK MEET.  THE TITANS HAD MANY OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCES EN ROUTE TO THE HIGH TEAM FINISHES. 

SCORING POINTS FOR THE TEAM AT STATE:

Brittany Cardall placed in four events:  2nd in the 300 hurdles, third in the 200,  4th in the 100, 7th in the 400.

Sara Wynn placed in four events:  2nd in the 200, third in the 4 x 100, 7th in the long jump, 8th in the 100.

Kamryn Wiese placed in three events:  second in the high jump, 7th in the 100, and third on the 4 x 100 relay.

Kelsey Steed was third in the long jump.

Kamryn WIese, Savannah Allen, Kelsey Steed, and Sara Wynn finished third in the 4 x 100 relay.

Rachel Deherrera was 5th in the discus and 6th in the shot put.

Ashley Agren was fourth in the javelin.

Ali Horsfall was sixth in the Pole Vault.

The 4 x 400 meter relay team of Karlee Floyd, Ali Horsfall, Hannah Hunt, and Kelsey Steed finished 8th.

Nathan Kaufusi led the boys team by winning the 100 meters and setting a new State Record. 

Nathan also anchored the State Champion 4 x 400 meter relay team of Trevor Burrell, Scott Davies, and Ty Burke.   That relay bettered their own State Record time.  Nathan also placed second in the 200 meters and 400 meters.

Scott Davies had a great meet placing third in both the 110 meter and 300 meter hurdles.  He also ran on the Medley Relay team that finished fourth.  Other Medley Relay team members included Trevor Burrell, Ty Burke, and Drew Hogan. 

Ty Burke, who had a great meet, ran two P.R.’s to place in the 100 and 400 meters.

Sam Hansen has a PR in the javelin and placed fourth.  He also placed in the shot put.

Alex Wheeler had a PR in the High Jump and took fourth.

GREAT JOB TITANS ON AN OUTSTANDING SEASON!

 

TITANS EARN REGION TITLES

THE 2018 SYRACUSE TITANS EARNED BOTH INDIVIDUAL AND RELAY TEAM REGION TITLES AT THE REGION ONE MEET.  LEADING THE CHARGE WAS JUNIOR SPRINTER NATHAN KAUFUSI.  KAUFUSI WAS THE REGION CHAMPION IN THE 100, 200, AND 400 METERS.  HE WAS THE ONLY ATHLETE ON THE MALE SIDE TO WIN THREE INDIVIDUAL EVENTS.  SENIOR SCOTT DAVIES WAS THE MEET CHAMPION IN THE 300 HURDLES.  DAVIES RAN A GREAT TIME OF 38.29.  SENIOR LEXI WIGHTMAN CONTINUED HER AMAZING SEASON WITH THE REGION TITLE IN THE POLE VAULT.

TWO RELAY TEAMS ALSO WON REGION TITLES.  BOTH RELAYS WERE ON THE BOYS SIDE.  THE MEDLEY RELAY TEAM OF TREVOR BURRELL, JAXSON NELSON, MCKAY GARRETT, AND DREW HOGAN BATTLED THEIR WAY TO THE TITLE. 

THE 4 X 400 METER RELAY TEAM OF TREVOR BURRELL, SCOTT DAVIES, TY BURKE, AND NATHAN KAUFUSI RAN A SEASON BEST OF 3:18.95.  THE RELAY EARNED  KAUFUSI FOUR GOLD MEDALS ON THE DAY!

MANY OTHER TITANS CONTRIBUTED POINTS TO THE TEAM FINISH.  REGION RUNNER-UP FINISHERS INCLUDED:

KAMRYN WIESE IN THE HIGH JUMP. 

ED BURTON IN THE LONG JUMP.

SAM HANSEN IN THE JAVELIN.

RACHEL DEHERRERA IN THE SHOT PUT.

ALI HORSFALL IN THE POLE VAULT.

TY BURKE IN THE 200 METERS.

SARAH WYNN IN THE 200 METERS.

AND

THE GIRLS 4 X 100 METER RELAY TEAM (KAMRYN WIESE, SAVANNAH ALLEN, LEXI WIGHTMAN, AND SARAH WYNN).

 

TITANS EARN ACADEMIC ALL-STATE HONORS

FOUR MEMBERS OF THE 2018 TITANS TRACK TEAM HAVE BEEN HONORED AS ACADEMIC ALL-STATE SELECTIONS.  EACH OF THESE ATHLETES HAVE EARNED A 4.0 G.P.A. OVER THE COURSE OF THEIR CAREERS.

HUNTER STANGER:  DISTANCE EVENTS

KAEDEN TEAGUE:  POLE VAULT / LONG JUMP

LEXI WIGHTMAN:  POLE VAULT / RELAYS

CONGRATULATIONS TO EACH OF THESE OUTSTANDING ATHLETES AND THEIR FAMILIES.  THEY WILL BE HONORED AT A CEREMONY AT THE STATE TRACK MEET.  THE CEREMONY WILL BE AT 12:30 ON FRIDAY, MAY 18TH.

 

HERRIMAN TWILIGHT MEET

THE TITANS HAVE ONE MEET THIS WEEK.  A STATE QUALIFIER AT HERRIMAN HIGH SCHOOL ON FRIDAY, MAY 4TH.  THIS IS A GREAT MEET THAT IS FUN BECAUSE THE TITANS WILL BE RUNNING UNDER THE LIGHTS.  BE SURE TO COME AND SUPPORT THE TITANS AS THEY LOOK TO IMPROVE AND QUALIFY FOR STATE.  GO TITANS!!!

Titans Shine at Davis Invitational

THE SUCCESS OF THE 2018 SEASON CONTINUED AT THE DAVIS INVITATIONAL MEET THIS PAST WEEKEND.  THE TITANS WON EVENTS IN BOTH THE OPEN AND INVITED PORTIONS OF THE MEET.

IN THE INVITED SECTION, NATHAN KAUFUSI RAN THE FASTEST TIME IN THE STATE IN THE 400 METERS WITH A 47.6.  HE ALSO PLACED SECOND IN THE INVITED 100 METERS AND ANCHORED THE WINNING 4 X 400 METER RELAY.

POLE VAULTER LEXI WIGHTMAN CONTINUED HER DOMINANCE IN WINNING THE INVITED POLE VAULT EVENT.  HER MARK OF 11’6″ IS THE TOPS IN CLASS 6A THIS SEASON AT QUALIFYING MEETS.  SHE HAS REACHED 12’0″ TWICE THIS SEASON IN DUAL MEET COMPETITIONS. ( 12’0″ AT CLEARFIELD AND 12’2″ AT HOME VERSES FREMONT ).

THE GIRLS 4 X 100 METER RELAY HAD AN OUTSTANDING RACE POSTING THE BEST TIME IN THE STATE THIS YEAR.  THEIR MARK OF 47.7 IS THE SCHOOL RECORD AND STATE 6A STATE RECORD.  THE RELAY TEAM CONSISTED OF KAMRYN WIESE, KELSEY STEED, SARAH WYNN, AND BRITTANY CARDALL.  THEIR TIME IS THE THIRD FASTEST EVER IN THE HISTORY OF HIGH SCHOOL TRACK AND FIELD IN UTAH!

THE BOYS 4 X 400 METER RELAY TEAM OF TREVOR BURRELL, SCOTT DAVIES, TY BURKE, AND NATHAN KAUFUSI CONTINUED THEIR DOMINANCE AS WELL.  THE RELAY TEAM IMPROVED THEIR STATE RECORD TIME BY AN ADDITIONAL SECOND.  THEY HAVE RAN WELL ALL SEASON AND HAVE PRODUCED SOME OUTSTANDING MARKS.

SARAH WYNN WAS THE WINNER IN THE 100 METERS IN THE OPEN SECTION OF THE MEET.  ED BURTON WAS THE WINNER IN THE OPEN HIGH JUMP.  RACHEL DEHERRERA WAS THE WINNER IN THE OPEN SHOT PUT.  THE BOYS 4 X 100 METER RELAY TEAM OF TREVOR BURRELL, SCOTT DAVIES, ALEX WHEELER, AND TY BURKE WON THE OPEN SECTION AS WELL.

KELSEY STEED:  200 AND 400 METERS.

KAMRYN WIESE:  HIGH JUMP / 100 METERS

BRITTANY CARDALL:  100 METERS AND 300 METER HURDLES.

ED BURTON:  LONG JUMP.

SCOTT DAVIES:  110 AND 300 METER HURDLES.

RYKER CRAYTHORNE:  POLE VAULT.

TITANS QUALIFY TWO RELAYS

THE BOYS SEASON GOT OFF TO A GREAT START TO MATCH THE LADIES SUCCESS.  THE BOYS QUALIFIED TWO OF THE THREE RELAYS FOR THIS YEAR’S STATE MEET.  THE 4 X 100 M. RELAY TEAM OF TREVOR BURRELL, COLE THOMPSON, TY BURKE, AND NATHAN KAUFUSI RAN A SOLID TIME (43.56) EN ROUTE TO A SECOND PLACE FINISH.  THE 4 X 400 M. RELAY TEAM OF BURRELL, SCOTT DAVIES, BURKE, AND KAUFUSI ALSO QUALIFIED WITH A MEET WINNING EFFORT (3:24.26).

THE MEDLEY RELAY TEAM OF DALLAN PEHRSON, ALEX WHEELER, MCKAY GARRETT, AND DREW HOGAN RAN A GREAT RACE AND FINISHED SECOND IN THE MEET THAT FEATURED 18 SCHOOLS. 

NATHAN KAUFUSI WOULD RUN GREAT TIMES, BOTH QUALIFYING, IN THE 100 AND 200 METERS.  NATHAN WOULD FINISH SECOND IN BOTH EVENTS TO THE CURRENT STATE LEADER IN THOSE EVENTS.

OTHER TITANS WHO EXCELLED:  JUNIOR THROWER SAM HANSEN HAD A GREAT PERFORMANCE IN THE JAVELIN.  HIS THROW OF 154’07” EARNED A THRID PLACE FINISH.  SENIOR HURDLER SCOTT DAVIES BATTLED A TOUGH FIELD TO A SECOND PLACE FINISH IN THE 300 HURDLES. 

JUNIOR JUMPER ED BURTON QUALIFIED FOR STATE IN THE HIGH JUMP AND SCORED POINTS IN THE LONG JUMP.  BOTH OF ED’S MARKS PLACED HIM IN THE TOP TEN IN SCHOOL HISTORY.  SOPHOMORE DISTANCE RUNNER DREW HOGAN HAD AN OUTSTANDING RACE IN THE 1600 METERS RUNNING 4:34.40 (#9 ALL-TIME).  WHAT A START TO HIS OUTDOOR CAREER!

THE TITANS WILL BE IN ACTION AGAIN NEXT WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY AS THEY HOST THE 2018 DAVIS SCHOOL DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIPS.  THAT MEET WILL FEATURE ATHLETES FROM EACH OF THE DISTRICT’S HIGH SCHOOLS.  IT SHOULD BE A VERY COMPETITIVE MEET WITH TALENT IN EVERY EVENT!  THE MEET WILL BEGIN AT 3:00 ON BOTH DAYS.
