TITANS QUALIFY TWO RELAYS

THE BOYS SEASON GOT OFF TO A GREAT START TO MATCH THE LADIES SUCCESS.  THE BOYS QUALIFIED TWO OF THE THREE RELAYS FOR THIS YEAR’S STATE MEET.  THE 4 X 100 M. RELAY TEAM OF TREVOR BURRELL, COLE THOMPSON, TY BURKE, AND NATHAN KAUFUSI RAN A SOLID TIME (43.56) EN ROUTE TO A SECOND PLACE FINISH.  THE 4 X 400 M. RELAY TEAM OF BURRELL, SCOTT DAVIES, BURKE, AND KAUFUSI ALSO QUALIFIED WITH A MEET WINNING EFFORT (3:24.26).

THE MEDLEY RELAY TEAM OF DALLAN PEHRSON, ALEX WHEELER, MCKAY GARRETT, AND DREW HOGAN RAN A GREAT RACE AND FINISHED SECOND IN THE MEET THAT FEATURED 18 SCHOOLS. 

NATHAN KAUFUSI WOULD RUN GREAT TIMES, BOTH QUALIFYING, IN THE 100 AND 200 METERS.  NATHAN WOULD FINISH SECOND IN BOTH EVENTS TO THE CURRENT STATE LEADER IN THOSE EVENTS.

OTHER TITANS WHO EXCELLED:  JUNIOR THROWER SAM HANSEN HAD A GREAT PERFORMANCE IN THE JAVELIN.  HIS THROW OF 154’07” EARNED A THRID PLACE FINISH.  SENIOR HURDLER SCOTT DAVIES BATTLED A TOUGH FIELD TO A SECOND PLACE FINISH IN THE 300 HURDLES. 

JUNIOR JUMPER ED BURTON QUALIFIED FOR STATE IN THE HIGH JUMP AND SCORED POINTS IN THE LONG JUMP.  BOTH OF ED’S MARKS PLACED HIM IN THE TOP TEN IN SCHOOL HISTORY.  SOPHOMORE DISTANCE RUNNER DREW HOGAN HAD AN OUTSTANDING RACE IN THE 1600 METERS RUNNING 4:34.40 (#9 ALL-TIME).  WHAT A START TO HIS OUTDOOR CAREER!

THE TITANS WILL BE IN ACTION AGAIN NEXT WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY AS THEY HOST THE 2018 DAVIS SCHOOL DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIPS.  THAT MEET WILL FEATURE ATHLETES FROM EACH OF THE DISTRICT’S HIGH SCHOOLS.  IT SHOULD BE A VERY COMPETITIVE MEET WITH TALENT IN EVERY EVENT!  THE MEET WILL BEGIN AT 3:00 ON BOTH DAYS.

LADY TITANS SHINE AT SUPER MEET

THE 2018 SEASON GOT OFF TO A GREAT START AS THE LADY TITANS WON THE SUPER MEET HELD AT DAVIS HIGH SCHOOL.  THE TITANS SCORED 112 TEAM POINTS EN ROUTE TO THE VICTORY.  THIS VICTORY IS THE FIRST BY THE LADY TITANS AT THIS COMPETITIVE MEET.

JUNIOR SPRINTER BRITTANY CARDALL PACED THE TITANS AS SHE WAS NAMED THE OUTSTANDING PERFORMER FOR THE MEET.  BRITTANY TOOK FIRST PLACE IN THE 300 HURDLES, 200 METERS, AND ANCHORED THE WINNING 4 X 100 METER RELAY TEAM.  SHE ALSO PLACED 3RD IN THE LONG JUMP.  EACH OF HER MARKS WERE STATE QUALIFYING MARKS.

SENIOR VAULTER LEXI WHITEMAN WAS VICTORIOUS IN THE POLE VAULT.  HER VAULT OF 11’3″ TIED THE MEET RECORD AND WAS NUMBER 2 ALL-TIME IN SYRACUSE HISTORY.  HER MARK EQUAL 1,000 POINTS ON THE PERFORMANCE POINTS CHART, WHICH SECURED THE ADDITIONAL HONOR.

ALSO WINNING EVENTS FOR THE TITANS WAS SOPHOMORE KAMRYN WIESE WHO TOOK THE TITLE IN THE HIGH JUMP AS SHE CLEARED 5’3″.  THAT HEIGHT TIES HER SCHOOL RECORD FROM LAST SEASON.  SOPHOMORE KELSEY STEED RAN A GREAT RACE AND WON THE OPEN 400 METERS.  KELSEY ALSO JUMPED A STATE QUALIFYING MARK IN THE LONG JUMP AND TOOK THIRD IN THE 200 METERS. 

THE 4 X 100 METER RELAY TEAM QUALIFIED FOR STATE WITH A 49.19 TIME.  THAT MARK IS #3 ALL-TIME IN SCHOOL HISTORY.  RELAY MEMBERS INCLUDED KAMRYN WIESE, SAVANNAH ALLEN, SARAH WYNN, AND BRITTANY CARDALL.  WYNN ALSO RAN A GREAT RACE IN THE 200 WITH A STATE QUALIFYING TIME.  ALLEN SCORED ADDITIONAL POINTS IN THE 300 HURDLES.

OTHER KEY POINTS WERE BROUGHT IN BY ALI HORSFAL IN THE POLE VAULT, RACHEL DEHERRERA IN THE SHOT, AND SARA DAVIES IN THE HURDLES.  THE MEDLEY, 4 X 400, AND 4 X 800 RELAYS ALL CONTRIBUTED POINTS TO THE CAUSE!

MANY TITANS HAD PERSONAL RECORDS or P.R.’s ON THE DAY.  THE WEATHER HELD WHICH IS RARE IN UTAH’S UP-AND-DOWN SPRINGTIME!  THE SUPER MEET IS A GREAT EARLY SEASON TEST FOR ALL TEAMS.  MANY OF THE TOP TEAMS IN THE NEW 6A CLASS WERE PRESENT (18 TEAMS TOTAL).  GREAT START LADIES AND CONGRAT’S ON THE TEAM WIN.  GO TITANS!!!
